MECHANICAL WAVES

Wave is defined as the energy vibrations that propagate. In everyday life many people think that the wave is propagating in the resonance or particle, this bit is not true because the wave is propagating in the energy that belongs to the vibration. From here arises justify the medium used does not come creeping wave? whereas in fact the flow of water in a vast ocean. According to the flow of sea water was not caused by an wave but rather is caused by temperature differences in ocean water. But it may also be the displacement of medium particles, when waves through the medium gas substance that bonds between particles is so weak it is very possible that the air particles move positions because of a wave energy. Although the particle displacement will not be much but it can be said that the medium particles follow to move.

Wave by the medium is divided into 2 types
• mechanical waves in the propagation of a wave that requires a medium. Examples of mechanical       waves are sound waves.
• Electromagnetic waves are waves that do not require the propagation medium. Examples  elekromagnetik waves are waves of light.

 Waves in the direction rambatnya divided into 2 types
• Longitudinal waves are waves that rambatnya direction parallel to the direction of vibration. An example is a sound wave.
• Transverse wave is a wave that rambatnya direction perpendicular to the direction of vibration. Examples of light waves.

Magnitude of the wave is almost equal to the amount of vibration. This amount is as follows:
1. Period (T) is the amount of time it takes for one wave.
2. Frequency (f) is the number of waves that occur within 1 second.
3. Amplitude (A) is the maximum deviation of a wave.
4. Propagation speed (v) is the amount of distance traveled per unit time wave.
5. Wavelength (λ) is the distance the waves in 1 period. Or the amount of distance the hills of the valley.

Used in the wave equation are as follows:
T = t / n
f = n / t
and
T = 1 / f
f = 1 / T
where: T = the period (s)
              t = time (s)
             n =the number of waves (times)
              f = the frequency (Hz)
To determine the propagation of the wave equation is used;
v = λ.f or v = λ / T
Where λ is the wavelength (m)
v = the wave velocity (m / s)

- Based on the vibration direction:
1. Transverse wave is perpendicular to the direction of vibration rambatnya.
2. Longitudinal wave is the direction of vibration in the direction of VOD.
- Based on the vines and the way through which the medium:
1. Mechanical wave is a mechanical wave that is propagated and necessary for the propagation medium.
2. Is the propagated electromagnetic Celombang is magnetic electric field, and is not required medium.
- Based on the amplitudes:
 1. Wave is a wave whose amplitude is fixed at a point in its path.
2. Stationary wave is a wave whose amplitude is not fixed at a point in its path, which formed from the interference of two waves coming and reflection that each has the same frequency and amplitude but opposite phase.

- Walk the Wave Equation
y = A sin ( a
w t-kx)
y = A sin 2p/ T (t-x / v)
y = A sin 2p (t / T-x / l)
Sign (-) states the wave propagates from left to right
A = amplitude of wave (m)

l= v.T = wavelength (m)
v = wave velocity (m / s)
k = 2
p / l =  wave number (m ')
x = distance of a point to the origin (m)
